Pancake Sausage Balls

This morning I was finally able to try my hand at Pancake Sasuage Balls!

Super easy and taste amazing! My almost 2 year old loved them with his strawberries! Here is the recipe I used:

• 1/4 lb of browned sausage
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon white sugar
• 1 1/4 cup milk
• 1 egg
• 3 tablespoons melted butter

Brown your sausage, drain the grease and let cool til you can pick up the pieces without burning yourself. Mix your dry ingredients together (flour, baking powder, salt, and white sugar) and mix. Then add your wet ingredients (milk, egg, butter). Once your pancake batter is mixed up, pour into the squeeze bottle your Babycakes Cake Ball machine came with (or any squeeze bottle will do as long as the spout won't clog).

After preheating the cake ball machine, Fill each hole 3/4's up. If you fill it too much, they will spill over and look like the planet Saturn! Still delicious, just funny looking. After you've put in the batter, CAREFULLY drop in some sausage in the center. Remember, this thing is HOT! I burned myself on the lid when I wasn't paying attention. Close the lid after putting in the sausage and let cook for 1 1/2 minutes to 2 minutes (depending on how brown you like pancakes).

Carefully remove the balls from the machine once they've finished cooking. This made us 4 1/2 dozen balls! PLENTY of left overs! Enjoy dipping in syrup or butter! Could definitely substitute the sausage for small blueberries or small chocolate chips!

Review: Babycakes Flip-Over Cake Pop Maker

Today I took my first steps into the land of Cake Balls. For those who have been living under a rock, cake balls of amazing bites of round cake dipped in awesome sauce. I purchased the Babycakes Flip-Over Cake Pop Maker from Kohls today for $19.99. A bargain since it normally retails at $39.99!
My first reaction when I opened the box was amazement. The thing comes with the machine, two drying stands, a squeeze bottle, 3 dozen sticks, a fork to lift the balls from the machine, a drip pan and an instruction booklet. Set up was super easy! Just plug into any outlet on a level surface and let it heat up for a couple minutes. The power light goes off when it's ready. Very similar to a waffle iron.
The instruction booklet was pretty straight forward, but the reason I loved it so much was it gives you recipes for cake, donut holes, and frosting! Literally everything you need to get started is in this box!
I used their vanilla cake mix since I had everything on hand for it. Very simple (flour, sugar, eggs,...ya know, normal cake stuff). After mixing, I poured it into the squeeze bottle. This could be pretty messy if you aren't paying attention but the squeeze bottle is pretty big so you shouldn't have any problems. After the mix is in the bottle, you just squeeze it into the machine. Fill the holes up to the top, put the lid down and flip it. They only take 2:30 minutes!! Warning: cake that is the fast and delicious is bound to cause excessive weight gain...but it's so worth it.
After 2 minutes, just pop them out with the fork-thing provided. I put them in the drying stands to let them cool. And I can't lie...this is as far as I got. I just started eating them from here...without icing. They're that good.
But for those of you who are patient enough, you just shove a stick in them and dip them in whatever icing/glaze you've prepared. There are slots on the drying racks to put the sticks in so you won't need a foam block, unless you've made more than 24.
Overall, I am completely satisfied with my purchase! Tomorrow, I'll experiment in pancake sausage balls...I've got a hunch I can stuff batter and bake it with this thing. WE'LL FIND OUT! :D
